Loch an t-Sabhail Path
The circular walk near Loch an t-Sabhail is about 4.5km and starts at the Field Assynt car park next to the Little Assynt Tree Nursery on the A837, 8km before Lochinver.
You can begin the walk after the kissing gate, which protects this part of Assynt from deer, and that's why the old birches have been joined by newly planted trees.
The path will give you amazing views of Quinag, with a branch to the right which can be used as a viewpoint. From here you can continue ahead until reaching a right angle in the path which leads to the Leitir Easaidh all-abilities path.
For this walk the route continues straight ahead, with views across Loch na h-Innse Fraoich to the right. The shelter here you can use as a place for a break, whereafter you can continue to reach the ruins of old stone shielings.
The path forks here and you can go right (known as Ken's Path) through the heather at this point, and climbs over a series of low summits.
The path now descends steeply to join the shortcut again and the path passes more shielings and climbs to give a view over Lochan Mhic Leoid with the main road (A837) and Suilven visible beyond.
