North West Highlands Geopark

Lochinver lies within The North West Highland Geopark. The Geopark area is about 2000 square km of mountains, beaches, forest and rugged coastlines with a population of just 2000 people.

 

The North West Highlands Geopark is a European and UNESCO Geopark and many of the most spectacular and interesting landscapes contain small, remote communities and often these distinct landscapes are formed by underlying geology that is specific to the area and of major international importance.
